About me.

Hello! I’m Deborah and I’m a general health & well-being acupuncturist and massage therapist with a specialism in fertility, pregnancy and birth.  I’ve been working as an acupuncturist for 11 years and prior to that I spent 3 years full-time training at the International College of Oriental Medicine. It’s safe to say I absolutely, totally and utterly love my job! Now how many of you can honestly say that!

My career started out as a general practitioner and I’m pleased say I still practice as one today. My greatest reward as an acupuncturist is helping people overcome illness and reach a vibrant level of health.  I love empowering people to see that simple and small changes to diet, life style and thought patterns can make a significant and impactful difference.

However, as time went on, I noticed more of my client base were women with hormonal and fertility issues.  This observation, coupled with a passion for learning spurred me on to invest my time, money and many a late night into a spectrum of further study into pregnancy, fertility, gynaecology, menstrual issues, IVF, natural conception, miscarriage and the menopause.

I love being an acupuncturist and all the problem solving that comes with it.  I also love being a massage therapist.  Many of my peers gave up massage when they qualified, but I find that the simple human touch between practitioner and patient is just as beneficial for me as it is for them.  I know when I’ve given a good treatment as I have a wonderful feeling of euphoria coupled with being energised.

Outside of work I’m a keen cyclist and my practice has been strongly influenced by my personal recovery with the aid of acupuncture, from a serious cycling accident several years ago.  In addition to facilitating a good recovery from the physical aspects of the injuries, acupuncture became the catalyst for me to overcome the emotional trauma of the event.

When I’m not weaving into and out of traffic, you will usually bump into me running to or from a yoga or Pilates class.  I’m not as good as I’d like to be, but I consider it an important pillar in my week. I love going to festivals and the picture above was taken at Glastonbury in 2019 where I proudly became the first ever licenced acupuncturist to work at the festival. I consider myself a bit of a foodie and like to keep it healthy, that said, I do have an achilles heel for good cake and can literally inhale it!

I’m a very keen traveller and have visited every continent!  In December 2018 I went to the Brazilian Amazon jungle with the local tribes for a month… something I’m keen to do again.

My discovery of acupuncture was so profoundly life changing, that the highest accolade I could give it was to retrain as one.  It is so much more than just needles.  It has its roots in history, yet modern in its use.  It’s powerful medicine that effects changes on the inside of the body from the outside in a very precise, non-invasive way.  It also looks at the whole person and not just specific parts, or simply the symptoms.  I consider my acupuncture space to be a warm place for you to unburden, off load, speak freely and be heard, but also a place to garner practical and helpful information.  My aim is for people to leave feeling happier, supported and more in control of their own health and well-being.
